There and back again (From John o'Groats to Land's End)
It only took 3 1/2 years to make this picture!
The left part of this photo was taken in January 2017 and the right hand side today. Mia (the black van) was at John o'Groats - the top of the UK* collecting Brick City, which had been on display nearby in Thurso.
Stephanie (the white van) today delivered a commission to PK Porthcurno, just 4 miles from Land’s End. 830 miles away from John o'Groats! Yes, we could have done this just by driving between the two locations but it seemed a bit of a cheat to do it if there wasn't a work reason. Plus, it would be a massive waste of diesel. This was only a tiny waste…
*For those not based in the UK, a bit of an explanation might be necessary at this point.
John o'Groats is not the most northerly part of the UK (that's Dunnet Head). Land’s End is not the most southerly part of the UK either (that's Lizard point).
Neither are they the furthest parts of the UK east or west. However, in a traditionally British way, if you want to walk/cycle/drive/skate/swim/golf/etc from one end of the UK to the other, then that's whats you do; travel from John o’Groats to Land’s End.
So we did ;-)
Oh, and yes - as you can see, Land’s End is a big corporate money making tourist attraction with a huge entrance. John o’Groats is a small car park with a sign and a tiny ferry terminal. We still have Mia too, it’s just that Stephanie has air conditioning and it’s summer. It seemed worth the sacrifice of a better picture for 4 days of cool air!
