A short trip to America!

Actually, a very short trip for Brick America - only down to the South West of England!

Earlier this year, we opened a custom exhibition for the American Museum. Located just outside of Bath, it celebrates Americana and opened to the public way back in 1961. To create a summer blockbuster exhibition for 2023, we were asked to re-imagine some American landmarks in bricks!

Working with the museum, we decided to split the USA into the four points of the compass, which meant we could celebrate the whole (huge) country in a (much smaller) exhibition gallery.

Of course, if you’ve seen some of our tours - then it will be obvious that we already had a few great american landmarks. The LEGO company have re-created quite a few too! So, we put together a hybrid exhibition. Some items we already had, some LEGO had made, and many new models. Of course, with an added Red, White and Blue from the museum.

To put the final touch on the exhibition, we designed a BIG build of the Hollywood sign that visitors to the museum could help create in the first few days of opening. So, not only could those visitors say they’d seen the famous icons - they’d help create one of their own!

If you’d like to see Brick America, it’s still on show until the end of 2023. More details here. If you can’t make it to Bath though, keep an eye on our upcoming new exhibitions. You might just see one or two of those models again!

Our thanks to Judith Parkyn for the still images
