New for 2022, our physical tours now ships with access to a digital companion website.

Designed especially to be easy to use and to work on as many devices as possible - the digital companion is your visitors key to unlocking the secrets of our studio!

Through our digital companion, we’re also able to offer much more for every exhibit. Including

  • A full audio description for every exhibit, read by Warren Elsmore

  • Answers to the most often asked questions of ‘how many bricks’ and ‘how long did it take to build?

  • Enhanced interpretation that can’t be shown on the printed labels

  • Access to all of our digital interactives that come with the tour

How does it work?

We’ve made accessing our digital companion as simple as possible. Your visitors either need to scan a QR code on each exhibit or - if they have an NFC capable device - tap it against the sticker. That’s it!

The website will load all of the information about the exhibit, showing our build process, design sketches, background video and more. Each exhibit has different information to find. We’ve also added access to our digital resources - instructions for models to build at home and colouring sheets to download.

To help your visitors understand what’s possible - we’ve created poster images that you can display in and around the venue, as well as some fabric panels that we can deliver with the tour.

FAQ

  • Which devices are supported?
We don’t have a complete list, but almost any device capable of scanning the QR code should work. That includes almost all modern smartphones, tablets and gaming devices such as a Nintendo Switch

  • What is NFC?
NFC is the same technology that your phone uses to make contactless payments. Apple Pay, Google Pay, Samsung Pay etc - they all use NFC technology. So if you can make contactless payments from your phone then you should be able to use this too

  • What can I expect to see?
The information varies with each tour, but your visitors will find pictures, video, our design sketches - even 360 videos for some items. We’re adding more information as we find it.

  • Does this only work in the museum, or can my visitors access this after their visit?
The site is always available, so all your visitors need to do is bookmark the pages they like the most! They can come back to re-live their visit, print off more colouring-in sheets or anything else they’d like to do.

  • Which tours is this available for?
At the moment, Brick City, Wonders, History and Dinos all have the companion available.

  • Could we do something special with this for our venue?
    Yes, let’s chat!

  • Finally - do I have to pay extra for this?
NO! The digital companion is included in our tours at no extra cost.

Want to try it now? Why not?

The companion will work from almost any web browser - including your desktop. On a larger screen it will likely look very stretched but it will work in just the same way. Either click on the icons below - or try scanning the QR code with your phone right from the screen!

Download the graphics

We can provide these graphics as either wall-mounted or tension fabrics (to match our walling). However, if you’d like to print your own copies of them - please do. Note that for the NFC ‘tap’ to work, you will need to place a thing NFC sticker behind the graphic. We can provide these for you.
