Working digitally with Sketchup

Quite often I’m asked how we design our builds. It’s a tough question to respond to as often the answer is ‘it depends’! Some models are planned on paper, some have no planning at all, some are designed using dedicated LEGO CAD programs. Then of course, are the complex projects!

If we’re creating a build that has to accurately re-create an existing shape, needs a steel framework or is just that bit more complex - we turn to traditional CAD tools such as Sketchup. As our tour installations are also fully planned in advance, we use Sketchup to help create a virtual tour of the venue so it’s possible to see what will be built before we even arrive! Linked below are just some of these builds and plans.

For lots more detail on exactly how we integrate these tools into our process, check out an article I recently wrote for Sketchup UK.
