Newsletter - July 2021

The summer has finally arrived, and with summer holidays, staycations and the kids breaking up for school we are delighted to have all our tours now open! Staying busy we have delivered our tours into great locations in both Norwich and Ipswich and clocked up the miles to make sure we got everything delivered, built and ready to go. All now open, with restrictions changing across the country just this week, we hope visitors can enjoy a summer of fun, safely. We’ve also been working on two bespoke commissions that have delighted our artistic sides!

Sugar Skull

I love working on projects that are a bit out of the ordinary, and this one definitely hit that mark. A friend asked if we could make a special present for his wife’s birthday. She loves Sugar Skulls and he was arranging various parts of her birthday celebrations around that theme.

I thought this was a really interesting idea, using a fun and colourful medium to represent the essence of sugar skulls as a joyful celebration of life and love. See our blogpost for more details.

Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders’ Museum, Bespoke Figures

Standing small to help the Museum in its re-opening we crafted ten figures representing the Regiment, their mascot, and The Queen.

Allison Sparks of the Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders Museum had seen the bespoke figures we had created for the Bannockburn, Alloa Tower and Culross House visitor sites, and she was interested in seeing if we could work together on some figs. The Museum was undergoing a major overhaul and planned on re-opening in Summer 2020.

You can read about them here on our blog.

The Museum has now re-opened following its major refurbishment and the figures are happily ensconced in their cases. Allison and the team put together this lovely little video of some of them moving into their new home.

Where you can see our models this summer

It is fantastic to have all of our tours back out and amazing venues across the UK and not forgetting Brick City over in Reading Public Museum, Pennsylvania. Brick History is now open at The Hold in Ipswich, Brick Dinos opened on Monday 19th at The Forum in Norwich until August 30th. Brick Wonders is now open at East Riding Treasure House in Beverly and finally Brick Built and Brick Flicks are open at Centre For Life in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne. Delighted to be back to some normality and already planning new models, builds and venues for 2022 and beyond......

And finally…

…Whilst installing exhibitions in both Norwich and Ipswich we could not pass up the chance to take the vans to the Eastern-most point of the UK mainland, so we popped out ot Lowestoft for a quick pic. Now we just need to plan something for the far West of Scotland to complete the set!
