Newsletter - April 2021

Mardi Gras model.jpg

April already! This year, as weird as it has been, does seem to be moving quickly. Easter was a blur for us with so much work to get Brick City safely on its way to the US. We really enjoyed the final refresh to the tour, more on that later. We are so excited and feel this week has bought a new sense of freedom with more restrictions being lifted from April 12th, we already have more tour plans as venues begin to better understand their own roadmap through 2021, don't forget to call for more info on tours we have left to book.

Mardi Gras - Laissez les bons temps rouler!

As part of the model refresh for our Brick City tour, we wanted to include a celebration piece where we could really go all-out with minifigs having fun. And what better chance for that than a Mardi Gras Parade, where we not only get to enjoy floats, costumes and paradees, but we could also showcase some of the beautiful architecture and ornate balconies of the French Quarter of New Orleans. So many great stories and things going on this piece, when you have time to stand back and look.

For more images of the floats, krews and crowds and to see where we got some of our inspiration from, head on over to our blog.

What we do

Alongside our previous work we wanted to highlight all the different things we do. If something sparks your interest from our image here, give us a shout and see how we can help realise your idea.

Bon Voyage to Brick City

It's always a challenge when something we are so used to working with goes on its own journey overseas. A new process for the team to think through, plan, ship and deliver Brick City, when for the first time we can't travel with it. It’s a little nerve-wracking watching your models being fork-lifted into a container, but packing was inch-perfect and we are delighted it's now making its way across the ocean!

Did You Know?

  • There are 10,500 pieces in our Empire State Building

  • It’s also the second tallest building in the Brick City tour, standing at 126cm. (The St Pancras clock tower beats it, but only by a few centimetres!)

  • Models in the Brick City tour represent 26 countries across seven continents of the World

Brick Wonders exhibition opening soon at the National Museum of Flight

Real-world travel may still be restricted, but your imagination can jet off by visiting our Brick Wonders exhibition. This month sees our first tour of 2021 opening at the National Museum of Flight, just outside Edinburgh. They are getting everything ready to let visitors explore the wonders of the world without leaving the tarmac.

Opening on Monday 26 April and running until 27 June, Brick Wonders will offer the unique chance to explore ancient, modern and natural wonders of the world made out of over 500,000 LEGO bricks. For further details, tickets and information, please visit the National Museums Scotland website here.

And keep a look out on our facebook page next week for news on your chance to win tickets!!

And finally…

It’s fun having a substrate-printer on site! We have provided the National Museum of Flight with some minifigures as part of their visitor activities during the tour. As this will be the first time our new temporary walling panels have been out for public use we thought we’d create some miniature ones as backdrops for the figs.
